cdplayer permission


Hi, everybody,

Would you explain me why as root can I listen my audio cd but not when i am user?

this is part of my fstab

/dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom ->this is my cd-RW
/dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom1 ->this is my cdrom

Try "chmod 777 /dev/hdd".

thankyou

i knew it was about permissions but was concentrating on the mount points (/mnt/cdrom, etc). i can now listen to cd's and watch dvds.
so thankyou very much from me as well.
