CD recorder is not working under slack

Hello.

I have a problem with my CD recorder, I think it has something to do with a SCSI module or something, but cdrecord simply says that it cannot find any recorders.

Burning worked under other distros, I have no idea why doesn't it now.

Even though it is stated that using ide-scsi is now deprecated I still use it to work my Lite-On 52x24x52x burner.

If your cd burner is /dev/hdX then you may want to try a line in your lilo.conf or grub.conf that looks like:

append="hdX=ide-scsi"

Apply this change (issue lilo or grub installation command) and restart.

At a commandline, issue (as root):

cdrecord -scanbus

You may find that your recorder is now detected. You also may find that it is not.

For more examples/info there should be lots of info on this issue exposed by searching the forums.

If you have another removable media device and the above solution doesnt work try using scsi emulation on all removable media devices.

That might sound stupid, but I have no idea how the hell does it call my recorder. I call it /dev/cdrecorder , I have no idea how slack calls it.
