How can I setup CD-Burning under Slackware 8.1. I successful burned several CDs under Mandy 8.2 (my previous distro) before with the same machine, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it under Slackware 8.1.
Here's the line of out my fstab file for my CD-Burner
What is the output of 'cdrecord -scanbus'? This would at least tell you if you actually have the burner setup correctly. Don't forget the "append" line in lilo.
Are you using GUI front ends, or the actual program cdrecord?
See in /dev directory if /dev/sr0 is there. Also see if you can mount /dev/scd0 - put a data CD into a CD-R/RW and issue
mount -tiso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom2
I have Checked the lilo.conf file in the /etc directory:
It does have the words: append="hdc=ide-scsi" in it.
I have tried:
Code:
mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom2
or:
Code:
mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom2
Error Message:
Code:
mount: block device /dev/scd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,
or too many mounted file systems
Error Message 2:
Code:
mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
or too many mounted file systems
From the output of "cdrecord -scanbus" it looks like scsi emulation (ide-scsi) is supported. It may be that you have recompiled the kernel and neglected to add support for the iso9660 filesystem. I also noticed that, in your fstab you have the mount option "owner". Are you mounting the device as root or as a user? I would suggest changing "owner" to "user". The mount option "auto" suggests that the device is meant to be mounted at boot-time. Is it possible that the device is already mounted?
Thanks fskmh, I have been messing around with the kernel before and I might have missed the option for iso9660 filesystem support. I'll take another few stab recompiling the kernel properly.
