Sorry, I forgot to mention that executing rc.scanluns did not help. There does seem to be some randomness to this, I have had a couple freak times that the card is recognized. One of these times was after running rc.scanluns, but this isn't the case every time. Not a huge deal, just a little annoyance. Thanks again! ...Steve

I was just looking through this udev rules primer and I came across something that may help you. This example describes pretty much your exact situation, which can be worked around by using an all_partitions option, which will create all the possible device nodes at once, or something, even if there's no card in it at the time.
