Cant login with KDM after adabas installation

After installing the adabas component of Staroffice it is impossible to login using KDM.
Screen goes black then returns to KDM login screen.

Removing adabas does not help. By a process of elimination, if I don't install adabas login is normal.

Has anyone had the same problem. Any ideas.

Thanks.

Chesh.

I'm afraid I can't make any suggestions for how to *fix* the problem. I've had issues with KDM in the past, and generally try not to use it these days. If you need this software, and it always breaks KDM, report it as a bug to the developpers.

In the mean time, you *can* use a different graphical login manager. XDM is basic, but works, and supports remote logins. If you don't need remote login capability, then you might find that something else is better. SLiM works well, and there's a package on lp.net. The only weirdness is that it's hard coded to expect the configuration at /usr/etc instead of /etc.
