cant find the /etc/init.d/smb for samba

I have a computer that is running win xp and another running slackware 10.1. I'm trying to set it up so I can share files between the two but when I get to the "/etc/init.d/smb start" line of the linuxanswers guide here

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...icle&artid=395

I get the message

-su: /etc/init.d/smb: No such file or directory

So can anyone help me get around this

I have posted on the thread for this article but that was several days ago and no one has responded so I an posting here now hoping for an answer.

the startup script is in /etc/rc.d/rc.samba. your following a non slack specific guide it would seem. Read the thread I started on this same page about "rc.samba useless?". It helped me alot. Depending on your needs, you may not even need to run the samba script.

The Samba wiki here on LQ was all I needed to read in order to get Slack talking to Xp.... Switching directions would seem to be slightly more complicated. I'm not sure how much more complicated. Thats my next project apparently.
