cant chnage my refresh rate on XFCE and slackware 10
 

Hello, I recently installed Slacware 10 and everything went fine. But my refresh rate is only 60 on 1024x768 and on windows I can go up to 120...
and when I went to try using KDE to change it there r something it didnt even let my choose my screen, so I guess it didnt recognise my screen..
How can I change the refresh rate to 120 cause it really hurts my eyes..

oh and another problem I have is that I cant see or write Hebrew, how can I fix that?

You can manually edit settings pertinent to your specific monitor in the xorg.conf file found in /etc/X11, or in KDE you could try going to -> control center -> peripherals -> display and change settings there.

If you DO make any changes in xorg.conf, be sure to backup your working configuration first and test the new configuration.

I tried changing my xorg.conf file and now it says out of range.. I dont know why though..
I changed the horisental sync to 30-64 , and the vertical sync to 60-120...
I dont know how much horisental sync my screen can take but I know it can get up to 120 in vertical sync.. where can I check whats the max horisental sync for my screen? I have MAG XJ810 (19")...

Have you checked the manual that came with the monitor? It usually includes that sort of information. If you don't have the manual, you could try the homepage of the manufacturer.

found this via altavista, the maginnovations website doesnt seem to have your monitor, even under 'legacy'. the info on the following page could be wrong, you're best to find the manual, or even look at the sticker at the back of the monitor.

"vertical frequency of 50-160 hz, horizontal scanning at 30-95 Khz, "

oh, and i've never actually managed to correctly set the refresh rate via xorg.conf, and 85Hz is plenty for me, which seems to be the default.
