cant change permissions of my windowsxp partition

i set up my windows partition as mountable on /windowsxp, but for some weird reason i cannot change it so i can look and use things from it like pictures as a normal user, i have tried chmod 777 with no success and i also tried to do it with konqueror but get this error
Code:
Could not modify the ownership of file /windowsxp. You have insufficient access to the file to perform the change.
funny considering i ran konqueror as root!

you've got to set permissins for that in /etc/fstab
like this :

/dev/hdxx /windowsxp. ntfs ro,user,umask=022 1 0

( fill in your partition for "xx" )

after that, do a "mount -o remount /windowsxp. " as root.
that should do it...

does `mount -o uid=JoeNonRoot' work for you? was anything mounted on /windowsxp as you tried what you tried? Have you tried from the CLI or only konqueror?
