Cannot start Eclipse C++ on Slackware 12

Hi all,

I am trying to run eclipse 3.2 with CDT 3.1 on Slackware 12 but I cannot get the IDE to start. I have checked I have Java installed and running on the box and that is fine. Whenever I try to run the exe to start eclipse the splash screen comes up and then closes almost immediately with no warning. I have tried running eclipse from various different locations and it has yet to run successfully. Has anyone experienced this before? I've looked on the web and haven't been able to find a similar problem.
