Cannot "shutdown -h now" or "poweroff"
Hi everyone,
I have Slackware 10.2 with the 2.4.31 linux kernel...
Im using a Pentium III Coppermine 866MHz overclocked to 1001MHz...
Motherboard is a Asus CUSl2-C
ATI RADEON X700 256 Mb
Everything on Slackware works fine... excepted 1 thing : I cannot poweroff.
When I type in the console shutdown -h now or poweroff, everything is OK, but at the "Power-down" line, it "freezes"...
I mean : after the "Power-down" line, the computer doesn't shutdown, it stays at the "Power-down" line... But if I do CTRL-ALT-DELETE after the "Power-down" line, it says "md : Stopping all MD devices" and it reboots...
But I can't poweroff...
The "shutdown -r now" or "reboot" commands works, but lol I don't want to restart the PC, I want to poweroff it...
==========
I did some tests : And I know now that its when I overclock the CPU, the poweroff doesn't work, but when theres no overclock (866MHz), the poweroff command WORKS!
So : POWEROFF command doesn't works if overclock !
Can it be the kernel?
Oh and : I rly need this overclock...
Ill only have my new AMD in 1 year, so I would like to resolve this problem and not wait 1 year...
And w/e, ill use this comp when ill have the AMD...
lol anyway, ill not speak about my future new comp...
Thanx for help...
It will be very appreciated !
Blue
P.S. : When I was using Fedora Core 4, shutting down the comp was working with my overclock, so I think its fixable...
