Cannot login@terminal

I'm using Slackware 10. I never login at the computer it self so i've never noticed the problem. But when i try and login at the computer itself, regardless of the user I cannot login.

If I login w/ SSH from another computyer i don't have any problems.

Anyone have an idea of what might cause this. or where i shoudl look first?

When you say that you can not login, is it on a Linux console (ctrl +alt +F1-6) or in X session (Gdm, Kdm, *dm...) ?
