Question Cannot edit, delete, rename, or overwrite lilo.cof

I am running Slackware-current. I have updated from 10.2 to current via swaret. I did not upgrade LILO. I wanted to change the delay time for boot, and found I could not overwrite the lilo.conf file. I tried to delete it and could not. I copied it to lilo.conf.bak and tried to rename it. I tried to chown root /etc/lilo.conf and was denied. All these commands I have tried as root. Is anyone else having this problem? How can it be fixed?

Does running chattr -V -i /etc/lilo.conf help? If you have the immutable bit set, some operations aren't permitted.
