Cannot connect G-Shot D5123 to Slack 12

Hi all,
Well being as it's the festive season i decided to treat myself to a digital camera, nothing flash just a plain "Genius G-Shot D5123".

The problem is i cant connect it to Slackware 12, iv'e installed digikam and it's not listed in the supported camers section, i had hoped it might be recognized as a usb mass storage device of some sort but no joy

Has anyone got one of these working under linux? is there anything i can do?

Any help and i mean ANY HELP!!!! would be appreciated!

Thanks

The-Yikes

Have you tried the program gphoto?
www.gphoto.org
Although this G-Shot D5123 is not among the models they explicitly
claim to support, there still a chance that it will work.

Yeah, try gphoto as mastemmer says. Unfortunately, the Genius company line is not too well supported under Linux. For example, my mouse is a 9 button Genius laser mouse, but only 5 buttons are seen by evdev. xev shows no activity when pressing the 4 extra buttons. Also, there seems to be nothing on the net related to Genius and their level of compatibility with Linux, AFAIK.

Hi all,
Well i just took a look in the info center and the camera seems to be rcognized as a Syntek USB Camera. Still having trouble finding support for either though!

Oh well i'll stick with it!

Does it list a model number or anything ? The only syntek webcam driver I've found is:
http://syntekdriver.sourceforge.net/

Is that the one ? I may not be.
