can someone check out my log?

ahh good times. so i figured id try slackware. figured maybe some of that cool 'pure unix' chic would rub off on to me. or maybe i just liked the fact that it has 'slack' in the name.

anyway, i installed the full dvd of slackware 13. when i booted it up it was a console. i checked the runlevel and it was at 3. so up put it up to 4, then when i log back in = black screen. graphics problem i figure.
but what do i have to change?

here is my Xorg.0.log

I guess you need to install a driver for your video adapter. What is it? /sbin/lspci will probably list it.

So you need a driver for the "nVidia Corporation MCP73 Host Bridge (rev a2)". If you are OK with installing a non-FOSS driver then download from http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us

Well this is the bit you want.

1. The kernel is loading nouveau which is not yet fully supported so you need to add it to the blacklist in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
2. Then grab the Linux nvidia driver from www.nvidia.com and install that and configure xorg.conf to use "nvidia" instead of "nv" or "vesa"

That shouldnt be needed anymore. The xf86-video-nouveau package takes care of that part.

Maybe installing the nvidia driver will fix it.
Slackbuild is here: http://slackbuilds.org/repository/13...nvidia-driver/
