Can not get VLC to work after update to current.

Ever since the new update I can not get VLC to run, below is the error that I get. I have tried clean system to remove it and then used alien bobs latest version and still get the same.

"VLC media player 2.2.1 Terry Pratchett (Weatherwax) (revision 2.2.1-0-ga425c42)
ALSA lib conf.c:3325snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library (null)
ALSA lib conf.c:3788snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration
[0855eaf0] core libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
Segmentation fault"

Did you upgrade all packages AND install all new packages?

Also, the error is related to ALSA. Do you perhaps have additional sound related packages installed that need a recompile? Jack Audio or PulseAudio?

Getting some mixed results here:
-Installing VLC 2.2.1 on a new and full -current install --> Seg fault
-Updating a 14.1 installation to -current, with VLC 2.2.1 already installed --> VLC worked
-Uninstalling/reinstalling VLC 2.2.1 on updated installation above --> Seg fault
-Installing an older VLC (2.0.8) on -current works
-Recompiling VLC 2.2.1 on -current also works

Need recompile all EXTRA libraries dependencies on a fresh current system.

I try , and first a get error compiling around libbluray ,,, recompile
After pass bluray , get new error realated libass ... recompile libass

finally vlc compile and works.

NEED recompile asociated extra libraries first... (libraries non in oficial slackware)

Yes, I get the exact same error and I've done, at this point, 4 "fresh" installs from 3 different ISOs.

I just rebuilt VLC using Alien Bob's build directory + SlackBuild which seems to recompile everything.

I'm using VLC from SBo's repository and have to rebuild its dependencies to make it work... and it's working [1] ;-)

BTW, i've updated ffmpeg (ffmpeg-2.6.2-x86_64_custom-1_hba) and vlc (vlc-2.2.1-x86_64-2_hba).

- Cheers

I installed all new packages first then did an upgrade-all. I do not have pulse audio or jack installed. I downloaded the new kernel and installed it later but that did not help. I did a
clean-system and removed VLC and downloaded it 2 times from Aliens repo with no success.

I downloaded VLC version 2.1 from alien, installed it and it works fine.
