Ever since the new update I can not get VLC to run, below is the error that I get. I have tried clean system to remove it and then used alien bobs latest version and still get the same.
"VLC media player 2.2.1 Terry Pratchett (Weatherwax) (revision 2.2.1-0-ga425c42)
ALSA lib conf.c:3325snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library (null)
ALSA lib conf.c:3788snd_config_update_r) hooks failed, removing configuration
[0855eaf0] core libvlc: Running vlc with the default interface. Use 'cvlc' to use vlc without interface.
Segmentation fault"
Getting some mixed results here:
-Installing VLC 2.2.1 on a new and full -current install --> Seg fault
-Updating a 14.1 installation to -current, with VLC 2.2.1 already installed --> VLC worked
-Uninstalling/reinstalling VLC 2.2.1 on updated installation above --> Seg fault
-Installing an older VLC (2.0.8) on -current works
-Recompiling VLC 2.2.1 on -current also works
Distribution: Slackware64-current with "True Multilib" and KDE4Town.

Yes, I get the exact same error and I've done, at this point, 4 "fresh" installs from 3 different ISOs.
I installed all new packages first then did an upgrade-all. I do not have pulse audio or jack installed. I downloaded the new kernel and installed it later but that did not help. I did a
clean-system and removed VLC and downloaded it 2 times from Aliens repo with no success.
I downloaded VLC version 2.1 from alien, installed it and it works fine.
