install the kernel and upgrade your init for it. but the draw back you will not be able to compile with it. if you do some how let me know. how you acomplished it. i386 asm and the new x86 asm problem and you can symlink your your little heart to death. the init is a big thing it loads certian part of the new kernel.

I'm now running on my 12.2 box! Life is good! Thanks for all the help, guys. I will refer back to this thread if I decide to compile a custom kernel.
