Can I upgrade my Kernel version ?

Ok I've got a working Slackware 14.1 , with some custom packages , I've removed all unecessary package that came with my full install ( read "they're useless to me") ... generated my slackpkg template. so basically I've done all the tweaking that I needed.

I've looked at my kernel and I saw that I was using 3.10.17-smp
I wandered, since apparently the latest kernel stable is 4.01, if there's reason to believe that I could use the newer on my linux.

(even If I may not wn performance from that, I'll learn how to compile a kernel, since apparently there's a documentation done by Eric Hameleers )

So does anyone tried succesfully to upgrade the kernel from the sources from kernel.org ?

Yep. I do it regularly. 4.0.1 working fine with Slackware64-14.1 here.

Someone, certainly. To maximize your chances of success, you could base you configuration on one of the files provided in /testing for Slackware-current.
