Can't boot into fluxbox

Hi, I've run xwmconfig and chosen fluxbox, but slackware won't boot into fluxbox. It always boots KDE. What might I be doing wrong?

EDIT: Okay, I don't get it, but I came across a thread that suggested that I create a .xprofile file and put "exec fluxbox" in it. That worked. But I don't get it. If that works, what's the point of xwmconfig? When does it work? What's the point of xwmconfig if it doesn't (seem to) work?

I'm just trying to figure out why one method works and the other doesn't...

It's part of X and it works with XDM, but since you're using KDM which is part of KDE it reads configuration in different places.
Basically, you've configured X session with it, but KDE by default has another defined X session somewhere, possibly in kdmrc.

xwmconfig will work just fine without a DM, choose your DE or WM of choice then type startx..
