Can't start KDE in 9.1, Qt related

I'm having trouble getting KDE to run in 9.1 I downloaded and installed Qt 3.3.2 to /usr/local/qt as directed, but when I try to start KDE I get:

kdeinit: error while loading shared libraries: libqt-mt.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory.

Currently the qt libs are in /usr/local/qt/lib, and I'm assuming that this is where KDE is trying to link from, but I don't see this library. All pathing appears to be correct in .profile, so I'm not sure whats up here. Perhaps there is a package I am missing? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I run Slack 9.1 on one machine and Slack current on another.
On both of my machines all qt libs are in:
/usr/lib/qt/lib
