I have a NIS account on my network, I installed Slackware 10, i configured the NIS client, I started it, it all works fine. I can login to my NIS account from my machine, but when i go to another machine and try to login to my account on NIS on my machine using ssh it doesn't let me.

In syslog apears an error:
Using telnet works fine.

is the ssh coming up ok? It sounds like its asking you to login and all so it sounds like it opens fine. Can you create an account an account on that computer and when you login to the ssh shell, can you logon with that account? If that works out for you then maybe the transmission is getting fowarded to the NIS server encrypted and it doesn't know what to do with the encrypted stream. It reads it as plaintext and it ends up not matching any users, rhetorting NOUSER instead of the entirety of the encrypted stream it received.

*shrugs* haven't tried that before.

It's wierd because on another machine from the network with another Linux distribution (Debian, RedHat for example) it works.

On my machine it works to login through ssh using a normal account (local to the machine).
