Can't load fs?
I recently tried to install slack 9.1 on my home computer. I partitioned and formated my drives, then install both cd's and rebooted. It got most of the way thru a boot but at some point stopped and said it "can't load file system". I noticed that to get Knoppix installed, I had to disable dma in my bios first. I suppose Slack is trying to use dma mode, and then crashing. Is there a way to load slock with dma disabled? Or do you guys think this is caused by something else? I'd love to get Slack installed, but have temporarily settled for Knoppix.

On the lilo-prompt you could pass
nodma as a kernel parameter to see whether that actually is the problem. Cheers, Tink |
Thanks Tink, that fixed it.

Thanks for the feed-back - it's always nice to hear whether ones thoughts/efforts were of any use :) Cheers, Tink |
