hm while at it... i tried swapping the nfs server and client...
and i can't seem to mount rw a folder on the current client .. i think the problem lies on the server side.. but i think i did everything:
/etc/exports
Quote:
#expose the shares in the local net and a vpn net
/mnt/lvm/ 192.168.144.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
/mnt/lvm/ 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
/tmp/ 192.168.144.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
/tmp/ 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0(rw,sync)
|
/etc/hosts.allow
Quote:
ALL: 192.168.0.0/255.255.255.0
ALL: 192.168.144.0/255.255.255.0
|
/etc/hosts.deny
Quote:
portmap:ALL
lockd:ALL
mountd:ALL
rquotad:ALL
statd:ALL
|
and i restarted rc.nfs...
then i
Quote:
mount 192.168.144.1:/mnt/lvm/ /mnt/nfs_mount/ -o rw
|
(the -o rw just for assurance)
and i can't write into /mnt/nfs_mount (mkdir or create a file etc..)
note that if i mount /tmp instead of /mnt/lvm ... i can write normally...
the thing is lvm is an array of disks that i have merged together with logical volume manager utilities... i am initialising this array in fstab as
Quote:
#LVM_disks node
/dev/lvm_disks/lvm_node /mnt/lvm reiserfs defaults 1 2
|
also ls -l /mnt/ gives
Quote:
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 104 2007-10-12 16:16 lvm/
|
so i should be able to write into it.... no?
what am i doing wrong here???
should i mount the lvm array in a different manner??
