if we can't figure this out I'll just wait for slackware 13.2 and do a clean install and the issue will most likely disappear.

Hi,

Try using the install CD/DVD, pass the noapic parameter and see if this will change the configuration. I'm surprised that no device is listed or the fact as root you cannot find a link to the device. What does your '/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-cd.rules' show?

Boot the system with the CD/DVD to see which devices are recognized.
