Can't compile libghttp on Slamd64

Hi ! Here's the message at configure:

LDFLAGS="-L/usr/lib64" ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64 --prefix=/usr --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc

checking host system type... Invalid configuration `x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu': machine `x86_64-unknown' not recognized

updating cache ./config.cache
ltconfig: you must specify a host type if you use `--no-verify'
Try `ltconfig --help' for more information.
configure: error: libtool configure failed

Slamd64 12.0 and libghttp-1.0.9.
I should have tried older version of libghttp, but i like the shiny new latest from 23-Jan-2001 .
I succeded in compiling it on Slackware 12.0.
