Business Support for Slackware

For a few months around this time of the year most businesses are dealing with the accounting issues associated with the change in fiscal/calendar years. This may be a good time to ask some of you if Slackware has played a role in your financial success.

If you have server or desktop systems running Slackware and those systems help you make money, then consider sharing some of that profit to keep your business running strong with Slackware year after year.

I have two clients using Slackware. Last year I had my small client pay $120 per year ($10 per month) and my larger client pay $240 per year ($20 per month) for their use of Slackware. They save many times those small amounts each year just due to Slackware's reliability.

Contributions to Slackware (commercial or personal) can be sent to:

Quote:
Slackware Linux, Inc.
1164 Claremont Dr
Brentwood CA 94513-2952
USA

(925) 240-6652
Attach a note to your check or money order stating that it is a contribution to Slackware.

Alternatively you may also use the Paypal Donate button in the top left corner of the website store.slackware.com.

The help navigation button at the top of the store's page will display their mailing address and telephone number if you forget it.

As noted in other posts, Mr. Volkerding has arranged for the Slackware Store to handle contributions to Slackware. The same people in Brentwood California that run the Slackware Store also run the FreeBSD Mall. A Slackware contribution to their Sand Creek Drive address works also. It's all the same people.

If you want to use Slackware in your business in future years then consider supporting it financially today so it will still be available for your business to use tomorrow.

I have a subscription to Slackware and receive my DVD on each release. This is a small price to pay for my favourite OS. I also buy T shirts and other stuff from time to time from the Slackware Store.

I usually use the torrents to get a download of Slackware and its XFCE has become my favourite desktop in business use. Slackware helped a lot as far as productivity is concerned: I use Orage to schedule appointments and use Caligra to write my business plan. I usually contribute through the PayPal-button.

Same here. Got the new T-shirt in the mail yesterday, have it on now (nice shirt, well made), gonna order the polo shirt with the pocket (why the heck do people make polo shirts without pockets I do not know and I'm glad there's a Slackware shirt with one... heck, I might get a dozen and give some out to folk).

One other thing, when I do an installation for somebody, I ask that they get a subscription (mainly a small price to pay to help out).

Uh, thanks, Niki (duh!). Dang, I do hate being old and blind and fumble-fingered.
