Burn-in tools for a new PC using slackware/linux
 

What are the recommended tools in slackware/linux used to burn-in or test new pc hardware? Temperature monitoring tools like realtemp or coretemp? sensorsd doesn't give accurate reading for voltages & temp on my pc.

Any recommendations are welcomed.

#1 I know there's a prime95 for i486 & x86_64. prime95 can run in parallel threads if > 1 cpu is present (specified during program startup).

#2 Memtest on the slackware iso & kernel.

You have done some of the obvious. 'memtest' is more a verification to make certain your memory does test out OK.

'UBCD Ultimate Boot CD', 'SystemRescueCd' are tools to have on hand. 'UBCD' has loads of diagnostics to test your system peripherals/subsystems.

'Burn-in' for a machine is not that big of a deal. After testing the machine to confirm that things are joy. Then use it! Shake things out until you find a possible error at the start but be sure to note any quirks that may arise then test to find the potential error.

Pushing things to the edge to find a problem doesn't mean you won't have problems later. If your gluing a new system then by all means test each subsystem to make sure things fall within proper parameters. Try to use manufacture diagnostics along with any other valid diagnostic program to find or confirm there are no problem(s).

I like to test a new hdd by using the manufacture diagnostics but then I will blanket test the whole drive by creating a filesystem along with block checks. Before I do a final creation I will do a random read/write across the disk to just shake it down. I will then create multiple partitions for the system use then create multiple filesystem in each with again doing a block check. If I experience any problems then I will run diagnostics or other utilities to see where the problem may be.
