bootup logo screen thing

hi! I'm just trying to figure out how to get this bootup logo pic running... So it can hide the little messages that run. But i've tried everything that i have ever heard of. I edited my kernel thing using make menuconfig and enabled boot logo thing, and tried everything on there, like black and white, 16 bit and 2...something bit. But the all failed. I looked at the http://www.bootsplash.org and followed every step, but got stuck on one, and i couldn't finish.... can anybody help me?

http://members.optusnet.com.au/rkelsen/lilo.html

this has some general info
http://www.gamers.org/%7Equinet/lilo/

*edit 2: i was wrong, removed unnecessary info; i'll keep the links as someone else might find them useful

The bootsplash does not require a patched version of lilo. You only need this if you want an animated lilo menu. The bootsplash thing only requires a patched kernel and a ramdisk containing the image and a configuration file.

I've used both the bootsplash patch and the patched version of lilo, and both worked fine with Slack 9.1

Kebos, where exactly did it go wrong? What was the last command you issued and did it produce any error messages?

how about you actually tell us WHICH step you got stuck on.. we're not psychic!!

This is certainly nothing to do with lilo though.
