Bootsplash init scripts

Hello all, I just installed bootsplash on my system, pastched my kernel and everything, using the instructions here. However, I do not know how to edit my init scripts in slack to show the bootscreen (instructions are for gentoo). Anybody know how to go about this in slack?

it should do the trick. good luck :)

Thanks, EyesOnly. I had seen that page and tried using that method before, however it did not work. Do you have a working set of init scripts? If so, could you post them?

I have kernel 2.6.5, but I used the patch from bootsplash.org for kernel 2.6.3. Might that cause the problem? I have a patch for kernel 2.6.5 now from the gentoo site, and think I will try that one instead. patch did show some errors when patching the kernel, so this may be the issue.

OK, do not use the patch on the site above. YOUR KERNEL WILL NOT COMPILE! I'm going to try using kernel 2.6.3 with the 2.6.3 patch now. Hopefully it will work better.

I used the path for kernel 2.6.5 from here and it works fine! For kernel config, I suggest that you read this as well.

Well I used a mixtured from the site that TheRepublican posted and the one posted by Eyes Only. I happen to have the kernel 2.6.5, that's why I used the patch offered in the Gentoo forum. I followed the instructions that are in the MadPenguin site howto, but I enabled the options explained in the gentoo forum. Am I making any sence at all?. In the gentoo forum explain which options to enable for the 2.6.x kernel, as well as the options for the 2.4.x. Follow the instructions based on the kernel you have, after that just compile, install, and follow the instructions in the MadPenguin site to enable the bootsplash, it should work just fine. I was afraid cuz this was the first time I patched my kernel, but it worked, hope it work for you too.
