Question boot-up sound modules and errors

Hi all,
Normally after I install Slackware i go through, slim down and upgrade my kernel. When i do this i take out many modules that i don't need and the ones i do i change to "y". Whilst doing this i noticed i now get a bunch of startup errors regarding the loading of the sound since they seem to be loaded as modules, but since they are "y" they are already loaded. I want to get rid of these errors and was wondering if simply editing the rc.modules script would be enough to not have them cause any problems or if i should just leave them as modules in the kernel.

Thanks

Can you post those errors, and then the output of
"zcat /proc/config.gz | grep -i snd" while running
the custom kernel which gives you those errors?
And also the output of "lspci -v" please.

Usually, the most reliable way to make sound work is by compiling basic sound support with 'y' and device drivers as modules.
