When it's booting up I can see a line with the word "FATAL" whiz by. I can't make out any more of the line. I have searched all of the logs under /var/log and i can't find it in any of the logs. So, where else would it be getting logged? Or, maybe not everything's getting logged? Where would it be or how do I turn on 100% boot up logging?
If no one has a better suggestion, you may want to try shift+PageUp. That will let you scroll upwards while booting. Luckily, you'll get some time to read while hotplug and ldconfig do their thing.
It's probably your rc.modules complaining, btw, that either ide_scsi or agpgart modules could not be loaded. Have you recompiled your kernel since install, and when you did it, did you either compile those directly in, or disable support for either of them?

I don't see it in dmesg. I run "#dmesg | less", then "/FATAL <Enter>", and it's not in there. Is it possible that not all boot up messages are getting logged?
I started out with kernel 2.4.29. Then I installed the 2.6.10 kernel from the Slackware CD. Then, I needed the "PROBE_ALL_LUNS" option enabled, so I decided to just go ahead and install a 2.6.11.11 kernel from kernel.org. So, I have three bootable kernels installed.

Aha! The "Scroll Lock" key worked. And, I found out that I not only have one FATAL message, I have three!
FATAL: Module psmouse not found
FATAL: Module agpgart not found
FATAL: Module ide_cd not found
My PS2 mouse works fine, so I don't need the psmouse module.
My ATI Radeon 7500 AGP card works fine. So I guess I don't need agpgart.
My ide LiteOn CD-RW drive is found okay by K3B. If i remember right, the kernel 2.6 module for ide cd-rw drives is called ide-cd, not ide_cd. So, now I'm going to have to track down where these modules are being called from a comment them out. Any suggestions?
You won't need ide_cd, or psmouse with the 2.6 kernel.
Speaking from experience, however, it's a good idea to recompile with agpgart as a module. While you're getting the resolution/refresh you want out of your graphics, see what happens when you type "glxinfo | grep render". If you see Mesa as your renderer string, it's because firegl can't replace the agpgart driver in the kernel with its own, and it'll hurt your OpenGL performance.
