boot problem with lilo
a friend crashed my system ..the problem is, will not boot,,here is all i get,when i start to boot ,,then ,,here's error,
'L 40 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80 80' can some one help plz ,,,i'm new to linux

Boot with CD1, at the "Prompt:" type in the line above it (It tells you how to boot your hard drive), then rerun lilo, or liloconfig may be needed. (If using lilo)

still having prob
i did what u posted

and still got prob getting 2 errors and no boot ( os/2 !! sys01475 and os/2 !! syso2027 ) got any ideas what may be prob

The problem here is that someone uninstalled lilo from your MBR, you have to boot into the rescue console (disk 1) and reinstall the boot loader, it should recognize your operating systems automatically. Im not exactly sure what the commands are, but if you get to the rescue console just type help and it will give you commands for how to reinstall lilo.

If you're wanting to use Lilo this is what I'd try. When you get it booted with the fist Slack disc use liloconfig to (re)install Lilo (I think this is what wpg was suggesting). Or, you could try to edit your /etc/lilo.conf file (after you boot with the CD of course) if you know what you're doing. There are tons of examples here at LQ (and in the Slack forum too)regarding the lilo.conf file. Just make sure you do a /sbin/lilo to see if there are any errors before you try rebooting. Hope that helps a little.
