Boot error "[drm:intel_enable_lvds] *ERROR* timed out waiting for panel to power on"

Well I read a little bit about DRM and it seems to be a kernel module that handles DMA for the graphic chipset to handle multiple 3d rendering.

I'm using Slackware64 14.1, on a Intel 4500MHD or GM45 chipset.

Would like to know if anyone has encountered this problem and has an idea how to solve it.

Thank you.

There is this thread from arch:

might be worth looking at if you have similar hardware. I googled [drm:intel_enable_lvds] to get that, btw.

I know this is an old thread but I was having the same problem with an old Sony Vaio and I finally fixed the issue by adding "acpi=off" to the kernel boot options. This issue was causing the system to take an incredibly long time to boot, which was frustrating since it has an SSD in it to speed it up. Once fixed the system boots up lickity-split. Hooray!

I'm using debian with gnome and I was also having a problem where opening any system settings would freeze the system for 10-20 seconds before opening. This fixed that issue as well.

Just figured I'd put the info out there in case anyone else was having the same problem.
