Blank console screen after kernel upgrade
First let me say... I Am a Noob.
Having cleanly installed Slack 10.1 on my Compaq Presario, I decided to upgrade my Kernel to the latest stable release.
All seemed to go fine. I used my existing .config file (not sure this was a good idea), but now when going through start-up my screen is blank.
Only after waiting for disk activity to stop, can I then log in and type startx.
The KDE desktop starts fine, but produces a warning saying the sound does not work.
Everything else is fine. Even my PCMCIA is enabled which always caused problems when using Madriva 9.1+
So finally my question is, how can I breath life into my start-up console display?
