Blackscreen after NVIDIA driver installation

Hello everyone! I'm a new guy here and I have a problem with NVIDIA driver. So what I do is that I disable noevau driver in modprobe.d, reboot pc, install the driver using ./ command as sudo, run nvidia-xconfig and then I reboot again. After that I login as root, I run xserver and here the problem starts. Now what happens is that I can hear that my gpu fan is slowing down and I can see that xserver has configured itself but after that I'm stuck on blackscreen and I'm unable to get away from it, not even by using stuff like ctrl + alt + backspace, alt + f2,3,4,5,6 and I'm forced to restart my pc by hand, uninstall that driver, delete noevau modprobe.d from blacklist and set back myself to the default driver. My graphic card is NVIDIA 9800GT, my slack version is 14.00 and please keep in mind that I'm a complete begginer in slack with a minor experience in some other linux distros like ubuntu & mint. The driver versions that I've tried out were 3.31, 3.25 and 3.19.60 out wich of 2 are beta and one is stable.

I think I had something like that on my 1st Slack install after installing the Nvidia driver. As I recall I believe I neglected to let the driver rewrite the xorg.conf file at the end of the nvidia installation. Now days Slack don't come with one and the driver has to make it.
You might take a peek at /etc/X11/ to see if there’s an xorg.conf and if there ain’t then that might be your problem.
Just a shot in the dark, someone with more knowledge than I have is sure to come along shortly and help you with it.

EDIT:
Lately on new installations after I let nvidia blacklist nouveau and reboot I come to a black screen and have to do Ctrl alt f6 to get to a live console to finish the nvidia install..

Well in one of those driver installs I've let the driver to configure xorg.conf file but I believe that nvidia-xconfig command after installation does the same thing. In /etc/X11 I found xorg.conf-vesa, xorg.conf.backup files and xorg.conf.d directory which is empty. Also I did all of my installation in console mode, not any kind of gui involved(I think it's impossible to install it with xserver on).

Ok someone with more knowledge than myself will be along shortly to help you.

In my /etc/X11/
I have:
xorg.conf
xorg.conf-vesa
xorg.conf.backup
xorg.conf.nvidia-xconfig-original

/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ (empty folder)

I'm using the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-325.15.run driver

I had to append

vmalloc=256m

to /etc/lilo.conf, below the line

# Append any additional kernel parameters:

to get the xserver to start.
