black screen after unpacking newly compiled kernel

1 Attachment(s)
hi,
after booting my custom kernel, the only problem I am left with is that after the kernel is unpacked the boot process is hidden behind a black screen. I don't know where to look in the configuration menu as I went through everything several times. Previously the boot process went fine in this regard but my mouse and keyboard were not detected then. I can't remember what I didn't leave out in the configuration process then that is causing the blackout now.
See attachment for details. I installed the proprietary (AMD) drivers for my graphics card.

If you want to strip down your kernel, I suggest that you "make localmodconfig". That way you'll save yourself (and us) a lot of time, see "make help".

Before doing that, plug-in *all* your removable devices else you'll miss the modules for them in the new config file.

If you don't have enough slots, just unplug some devices to plug others, all modules will stay loaded.

Wait a few seconds before unplugging a device as modules need a few seconds to be loaded.

Agree with Didier - I only had a skim through, but you haven't included the framebuffer console into the kernel at all - nor AGP, among other things... Just rebuild your kernel, using Pat's 3.2.29-smp generic config as a starting point, as advised above. If you've got a newer 3.2.x kernel, ensure you run "make oldconfig" first.
