The mysql ends because by default there are no databases created (read the instructions on /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld to create them).
I remember the endless loop happened to me once when I touch some of my login files but I've never seen that behaviour "by default".
It was something I was doing at my .bashrc file.
But as you said it was a vanilla install maybe it's some software that was bad installed, very weird to see this behaviour without touching anything.
What helped was connecting via ssh and installing it again.
Excellent, a lead.
Okay, 2 questions:
1. Do you think this is the same issue? Remember this is immediately after a fresh install.
2. If so, how would I go about reinstalling via SSH? There is currently no root password specified, and SSH login seems to want one. I'd also need instructions on the actual installation.
Thanks much.
Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome and will be repaid with my evil minionship.
