BIOS resolution too low!

Hi..

When I boot,the BIOS screen resolution and the resolution of the screens that follow like LILO, and the boot up messages up to login console screen,are too low.Its 800 x 600.But when I login,the resolution works fine,being 1440 x 900 the native resolution.

I remember the resolution working fine before.I've a dual boot slackware/windows 7 setup.As far I recall the resolution messed up while installing a game in windows and since then the BIOS screen never ran at the resolution it used to.The screen was cut-off with black strips on the sides.I somehow managed to make it cover all my screen through monitor settings but the resolution is still very low.It looks very ugly and when slackware boots up,its the same with it till I actually login.Is there any workaround for this?....do I need to update BIOS or something?...Or it has nothing to do with the BIOS altogether?

Slackware 13.37 and Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT. I have installed the official 302 Nvidia drivers.

Thanks.

This one, look at /etc/lilo.conf you should see a line like this one

Code:
vga = normal
change it as it suites your needs.

Also have a look at the video= kernel boot option

The underlined portion bothers me a bit. Look at your BIOS settings. POST & Lilo settings are different. POST (IPL) initializes the system and your are given the base screen which should provide BIOS entry before SPL(bootloader which happens to be Lilo). Once the SPL(Lilo bootloader), your hardware setting will be set via the lilo option 'vga='.

Check the BIOS settings then as already suggested you can use the 'vga=' in '/etc/lilo.conf' then be sure to run 'lilo' as root.
HTH!
