Best and most reliable filesystem for "/" and swap

Which is the most reliable and faster filesystem for "/" ??
(or that depends on the use of the PC??Now i am refering to a Desktop PC with latest Kernel)
And which one for swap space ?

Swap doesn't have an fs as such - just mkswap and you're done. For root fs, ext2/3 are the old (reasonably) reliable workhorses but I like reiser. Some seem to be getting high on xfs for performance but I don't know much about it and believe it requires 2.6 or a patch or something. Reiser's my choice. Very reliable, very fast, especially with many small files. All I really know or care is that I've never had it screw up.
