Benchmark slap-get?

Running Slackware 10.2 on my laptop, and I love it.

I'm looking at getting a package manager, but I not sure which one to go with. I also know that this topic comes up alot on this forum, so I would like to get more input before making the leap.

I use swaret on my Slackware desktop, it works well, but doesn't have all of the packages that I need. For example K3B...

I've heard that Slap-Get is based on apt-get, but I would like to test-drive it before installing it, is this possible?

thanks

How would you propose to test drive it before installing it? The only thing I can think of is to find someone you know who is using it and try it out that way, or get an old inexpensive system where you can experiment. Used hardware is really cheap these days since even new desktop systems can be found for under $500.
