Battery monitor giving incorrect value

I'm using Slack 10.1 with kernel 2.6.11r5 on a IBM ThinkPad T23. I had everything working fine at first. The battery was giving the correct status until one night I left it on running on battery only. My monitoring program is supposed to shut it down automatically but I hadn't made the change in the sudoers file to give it permission to do that yet. So I woke up the next morning realizing that it had just completely drained without a proper shutdown. Now the battery reads at 67% when it's fully charged. I can tell it's fully charged because I dual boot WinXP and it says it's at 100%. So i know the battery is fine. Linux is just reading it wrong somehow. I even uninstalled my battery monitoring program which is WMLaptop but still no change. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

have you tried just using the integrated APM module? What battery level does that register?
