Any time I run a configure script to build things i get this
Code:
bash-2.05b$ configure
bash: ./configure: /bin/sh: bad interpreter: Permission denied
bash-2.05b$
Why is it trying to use sh and how do i fix this so i can run scripts.

By default, /bin/sh is just a symlink to /bin/bash anyway, so I shouldn't worry about that too much. I'm not sure what the problem is though.

looking at the code u posted, it looks like u've done:

Code:
configure
when the actual code would be:

Code:
./configure

I will get this error if I try to compile a program that is located in a directory that's not in my PATH.
For example, if I have a tarball on /data-1 or /mnt/somedirectory and I extract it there and try to compile at this location, I will get that error. If I move the extrcated file or the tarball to /tmp and compile, it will work fine.

I may not have this explained properly, but try moving the packge to /tmp and .compile it there and see what happens.
