Bad fonts in evince
Hi,
I am running 13.37-64bit on my desktop and am facing some issues with some pdf's. For some particular pdf's, the fonts displayed by evince is bad. I used to have this trouble with many more pdf's earlier, till I found this solution:
http://notespool.blogspot.com/2010/0...slackware.html
That solution is for the bad times fonts. Now I face the same issue but with some other fonts. And since I never really grasped the crux of the solution, I can't figure out how to fix the issue this time. Here is what I did:
Code:
# pdffonts cm960464p.pdf
name type emb sub uni object ID
------------------------------------ ----------------- --- --- --- ---------
NewCenturySchlbk-Bold Type 1 no no no 7 0
NewCenturySchlbk-Roman Type 1 no no no 8 0
Symbol Type 1 no no no 9 0
NewCenturySchlbk-Italic Type 1 no no no 10 0
ONAGEC+TimesTenGreek-Inclined Type 1 yes yes no 11 0
ONAGLD+ChemBats2 Type 1 yes yes no 12 0
ONDFHP+MTSY Type 1 yes yes no 25 0
NewCenturySchlbk-BoldItalic Type 1 no no no 31 0
And I can see some of the fonts not being embedded (which might be the issue as the earlier post mentions). So then I did:
Code:
# fc-match "newcentury"
DejaVuSans.ttf: "DejaVu Sans" "Book"
Now, I have been trying to find the "good" dejavusans font like the earlier solution. First of all, I don't know if this is the right solution or if I am missing something else. Also, I dowloaded dejavu-fonts-ttf-2.33-noarch-1.txz and when I did a diff with my current font in /usr/share/fonts/TTF/DejaVuSans.ttf, there are no differences. So, I guess that's not a problem.
Can somebody please help me to fix these fonts. They look quite bad right now :-)
