Bad EIP Value

I have an older 166 which I am running Slack 8.1 on. Earlier today it was working fine, and then all of a suden it stopped working. When I reboot I get the error: Bad EIP Value
and a kernel panic. I have read some other threads about this, but none of suggestions seem to apply. Any help is appreciated.

One other note. If I run the setup CD for Slack 8.1 and above I get the same thing, but 8.0 seems to boot fine.

Seriously, not one person has any idea what this is or how to fix it?
