Could you ellaborate what is a backup for you ?

A basic secure backup is to copy datas from a whole drive to another drive which has exactly the same
specs (same size, model, manufacturer) and which is put in another place.

Now for daily backups or smaller backup, I suggest you to archive datas, then burn them to cd...
I use these tools for that :

- tar (for archiving, example : tar czvf home.tar.gz /home)
- k3b (for burning)
As you can see they are generic tools that not only work in slackware but in all Linux distributions

I use this tar script for system backups
Code:
tar czpf /mnt/backup/OS/`date +%m%d%y_at_%H%M`.tar.gz --exclude=mnt --exclude=proc \
--exclude=sys --exclude=home /
It will compress a 4G install to a 1.5G tarball.
