Backtrack: Couple of issues (installation & wireless)
Hi Guys,
Just bought a laptop and want to install Backtrack2.0 on there. Never really done much with Linux, so I thought I’d give it a go.
I booted my machine with a liveCD and split my HDD into 3 NTFS partitions. Installed XP on the first, allocated the second for data storage and a third partition for Backtrack.
When I boot of the backtrack CD, I have a couple of issues which I’d like some assistance with if I could please:
a) When I use the backtrack installation option it asks me where I want to install. I set the partition to install to sda3 (the blank NTFS partition -> Is NTFS the problem here?) and /sda as the device tow rite the MBR, but when I hit install it says it completed in about 2 seconds, even though there’s 2700MB to install. Lol. When I reboot the machine there’s no trace of backtrack and it just boots into XP as normal. Anything Im doing wrong (well obviously there’s something, but the question is what! Hehe!). Im not given an error message though.
b) The OS doesn’t recognise my Wireless card. It’s the intel pro wireless built in card on my dell dimension 6400. Is this compatible (and are they any good these wireless chipsets?)? What do i need to do to get it to work?
Thanks guys
