Backtrack 3 (bt3) live CD is not working on my desktop, laptop, or virtual machine
I hear great things about BackTrack and I want to be able to use it. I get errors on my desktop when using safe mode and currently I see this...
linux live end, starting the Linux distribution Usage: init 0123456SsQqAaBbCcUu It used to say something about triggering something, but when I ran safe mode again with noapic, it got this far. This was tested with backtrack 3 final cd. I'm currently downloading backtrack 3 final usb to see how that works. The desktop is custom made with an Intel Pentium D 2.66GHz, 1024 MB RAM, nVidia GeForce 8600 GT with 512MB, all on an ECS RC410L/800-M. I have a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 mouse plugged in via a KVM switch. I tried using Virtual PC 2007 to run BT3 in safe mode, but I only get as far as pnp: 00:0d: iomem range 0x100000-0x3fffffff could not be reserved after seeing five other similar messages. I would love to run this OS on my laptop, but I can't seem to figure out how. On both machines, when I try to load from the graphic options of the menu I get a black screen with a prompt at the top that does not accept keyboard input. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. |
Sorry to have to tell you this but I don't think you'll get much help here.
Slackware is not Backtrack although BT may be based on it. Backtrack have an IRC channel #remote-exploit where you may get quicker support or Google found me this for Backtrack support |
Yeah, I was thinking about that. I did some searching yesterday and found the BT forum at Remote Exploits, so I'll check out what they have. I like this site, though, so I came here first. :-D
