Azureus, KDE, and the Panel

I have a very odd issue with Azureus and the K quicklauncher.

When I try to launch Azureus by creating an entry in the K menu to launch Azureus, then launch it from the quick launcher in KDE, the Panel(taskbar) freezes completely. Azureus works fine, and if I exit it, the Panel unfreezes immediately, with the error message KDEInit could not launch '<path to executable>'

I tried two approaches: I tried creating an entry in the K menu to launch a script in /usr/local/bin, which would CD to the ~/azureus directory and then launch the Azureus executable; I also tried creating an entry which would just launch the Azureus executable, and set the work path to the Azureus directory.

Either approach has the exact same results. If I instead, however, right click on the panel, add a special button 'Non-KDE Application' and then set it to launch the /usr/local/bin/azureus script, it works perfectly.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?

Okay, it's gotten a bit more weird.

Various non-KDE applications that I'd set up to launch through the K menu, then added to the quicklauncher, are now freezing the entire panel when I launch them, then giving the error message KDEInit cannot launch <path to app> when I exit the application. The application itself launches, runs, and exits normally.

If I exit the app, create a special non-KDE application button on the taskbar, and then launch the app that way, it works perfectly.

I'm off to submit a bug report on this one...
