avidemux 2.5.2: xvid movie without picture on slack 12.2

Iīve a strange issue with alien bobīs 64bit package of avidemux 2.5.2:

A movie converted to xvid is not playable on my old notebook running slackware 12.2. I hear sound but see only a black screen. Neither kaffeine 0.8.8 nor vlc 1.0.1 shows the movie. On Slackware 13_64 there is no problem with any player. Even my wife can watch the movie on her windows machine with vlc 1.0.0.

I upgraded avidemux from 2.4.4 to 2.5.2 and xvidcore 1.2.2 to the latest version from alienīs repository. What did I miss?

Are you using the same version of ffmpeg/libavcodec/xvid on both machines running slackware?

None of the above is installed on my notebook. vlc is from alien bob and has everything built in. I donīt know why but kaffeine is able to play every other xvid movie out of the box.The version of xvidcore (on my Slackware 13_64 pc) is still the same, but itīs rebuilt "so that avidemux picks it up properly on x86_64 architecture".

Maybe I should go quick and dirty and upgrade my notebook to Slack 13 or downgrade avidemux on my desktop pc.
