Automatic dynamic menu in openbox with slackware

I'm using openbox, and it's often a pain to go in and make a new entry or delete an old one from the menu.xml file. Granted it's more controlled, but not always the easiest thing to do. I found this youtube tutorial for dynamic menus with openbox in debian, and started wondering if there was a way to do this in slackware. Does anyone know if this would work or if there's a way to do it?
