Automatic Dhcpcd if no IP

My university uses 802.1x security and every time I power up my computer I have to use wpa_supplicant to get auth (I've editet the /etc/rc.d/rc.local in order to do it at startup).

Everything works fine, the only problems is, sometimes I do get connected, but I don't get an IP address for reasons I don't quite know. And this forces me to login as root and use dhcpcd manually.

It's not a big deal, but I'd like to know if there's a way to automatize this process and allow dhcpcd to run automatically if I haven't an IP even if I'm connected to a network.

How did you configure your "rc.inet1.conf"?

rc.inet1 can do what you ask (and it can use wpa_supplicant as well). I'm currently connected (and typing this) from my Uni.
